Last Saturday, we attended a baptism at Las Catonas Chapel, of a sister and her daughter. One of the missionaries who taught them, Elder Arias, from Chile (on the left, dressed in white, next to the blonde missionary, Elder Volkert), had an attitude that inspired me:
When I asked Elder Arias if he had missed his family while on his mission, he said,"nunca", which means "never". Then he showed me photos of his family, and he obviously loved them, but he told me, "The Lord has given me 24 years on this earth, and I feel I can give two of those years to the Lord without missing my family."
I found this sentiment very inspiring. However, I still have a long ways to go in order to feel the same way he does about his family while on a mission. I'm continuing to work on being like Elder Arias though, because I know we have 100% support and encouragement from our family while we serve our mission here!
Sunday, we attended church in La Ferrere, then, had lunch with the Golinowski Family, a family that our Assistant, Elder Pannier, had taught and baptized last December. (The father's ancestors were from Poland.) They were a wonderful, strong family. The Golinowskis are, and will continue to be, a great strength to the Church over the years here in Buenos Aires. (They had a little daughter named Priscilla, who reminded me of our grandaughter, Tess, but I'll tell you more about that later.)
Sunday evening, we came back to the chapel, which is located next to the Mission Offices, and listened to some "Angels" singing. There were Sister Missionaries and Elders practicing gorgeous, angelic songs and then singing these songs, while recording them for a mission CD.
I loved listening to our missionaries sing, and I could have stayed there listening to them all night. What's not to love about being serenaded by some of our Church's finest young people while also enjoying being in their presence? I appreciate all of their parents, and my heart also goes out to all of our wonderful kids and grandkids, who are an inspiration & strength to me too!

Thank you for listing my daughter, Hermana Petty, under the title of an angel! The Lord has blessed her with a beautiful singing voice and she does sound like an angel when she sings!
We enjoyed reading her account of the making of the CD and how even though she was sick with a cold her voice was clear and strong as she sang.
We also heard about the great waffle breakfast too! Hooray for AP's who know how to cook!
i loved all the pictures of baptisms - they are great! you guys are doing a great work!
